Portion ("we," "us") is a Bible reading habit application. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the Portion / DailyPortion iOS app and to theportionapp.com.
What we collect
- Account information: your email address and a display name you choose.
- Reading activity: which plan you selected, days completed, streak counts, quiz answers, memory verses, and notes you write.
- Group data: group name, membership, your daily completion status shared with your group, covenant partnership status, nudges, and any verse, note, or image you choose to share to a group.
- Subscription data: your Premium status, tier, and renewal/expiry dates. In the iOS app, purchases are made through Apple; on the web, through Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Apple and RevenueCat provide us a subscription status linked to a random app-user identifier and, if you allow it, an App Tracking Transparency consent status.
- Device and technical data: basic in-app events (such as signup, reading completed, subscription started) and diagnostic information used to operate and improve the app.
Apps you choose to lock (Screen Time)
Portion uses Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls framework to help you keep chosen apps locked until you have read. When you pick apps to lock, Apple represents your choices as opaque tokens that stay on your device. Portion cannot see which specific apps or websites you selected, cannot read their contents, and never transmits that selection off your device — we only know whether a lock is on or off for your day.
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
- We do not access your other apps, social accounts, passwords, messages, or their content. Portion never asks for the password to any other service.
- We do not serve third-party advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising.
How we use information
To operate your account, sync your progress, run the group and covenant features you opt into, process subscriptions, provide support, and improve the app through aggregate analytics.
Who processes data for us
We use a small set of processors who handle data on our behalf under their own security and privacy obligations: Supabase (database and authentication), Apple (In-App Purchases and subscription management in the iOS app, and the on-device Screen Time framework), RevenueCat (subscription status management for the iOS app; receives a random app-user id and subscription events), and Stripe (payment processing for web purchases; we never see card numbers). Portion launches in the United States.
What your group can see
If you join a group, its members can see your display name, whether you completed today's reading, your streak, covenant/override activity you initiate, and anything you explicitly share to the group (a verse, a note, or an image). They cannot see your email, private notes you have not shared, or your quiz answers.
Your choices and rights
- You can use Portion as a guest without an account; guest progress is stored on your device.
- You may update your display name and plan at any time.
- You may manage or cancel your subscription at any time — on iOS in Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or on the web via Manage Subscription. Premium stays active until the end of the paid period.
- You may delete your account in the app (You → Delete my account). This permanently removes your account and associated data within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal or accounting purposes.
- You may request a copy of your data or deletion by emailing dailyportion.support@gmail.com.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active and delete it within 30 days of account deletion, except limited records we must retain for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and access is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
Portion is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy here and update the effective date. Material changes will be announced in the app.
